Named after the Greek goddess of wisdom (among many other things, because she was a killer multitasker), the New York-based Athena Film Festival is a weekend of inspiring films that tell the extraordinary stories of strong, bold women leaders from all walks of life.

They're now calling for short-film submissions from around the world for their 2018 festival. They're looking for shorts that:

• Reveal the diverse narratives of women leaders from all walks of life - narratives of ambition, courage, resilience and moxie.
• Showcase women leaders who currently are making or have made a difference in the world - captivating stories of truth, determination, innovation and vision.
• Highlight the talents of new and recognized artists - capturing their take on what truly makes exemplary women leaders.

Keep in mind:

• All films must feature a female in a leadership position at the centre of the story.
• Films may be directed by a person or people of any gender.
• Films that are directed by women but do not focus on female leadership will not be considered.

The curated programme includes Academy Award-nominated films, top-tier features, documentaries, and shorts - including U.S. and world premieres. The 2018 Festival will take place at Barnard College in New York City from February 22-25, 2018.

Shorts submissions are open until August 15. Entry is free. So get submitting!
