In February/March each year WIFT NZ calls for
applications for 10-12 students to participate in its annual
internship programme.
The programme is aimed at female students in
their final year of study and aims to provide them with
opportunities to learn by introducing them to both the people and
the workings of the industry.
Participants contribute a small amount of
volunteer time each month during the academic year, working on
allocated WIFT programmes and activities.
In return, interns receive complimentary
Friends' membership, invitations to key networking and other
events, opportunities to work with and meet people from the
industry, and to assess career paths. There are also specific
workshops (interns attend free) including our Welcome To The
Firm workshop for women starting out in their careers, and a
special life coaching event (including two hour group workshop and
one-on-one sessions) with former actor and life-designer Sian
Jaquet.
The internship programme offers invaluable
experience with, and exposure to, key contacts and is a core
programme for WIFT NZ as part of a commitment to growing women's
participation and skills.
Applications for
the 2011 programme are now closed. We will be calling for 2012
applications in the new year.
