This workshop offers an in-depth exploration of music licensing in film, designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of copyright, licensing, and music placement.
From understanding the fundamentals of Publishing & Master Recording Copyrights to learning how to identify copyright owners and secure the right licenses, participants will gain practical insights into the entire process.
The workshop also covers key aspects like budgeting for music licensing, requesting quotes, engaging composers, and working with music supervisors.
Whether you’re a filmmaker, producer, or music professional, this session will provide the skills needed to successfully integrate music into your film projects while staying compliant and within budget.
This workshop will be hosted by Pennie Black and Aminé Ramer.
Pennie Black is the NZ Director of Concord ANZ Music Publishing (formerly Native Tongue Music Publishing). Concord is the world’s leading independent music company. As a music supervisor and consultant, Amine Ramer has influenced the sound and mood of feature films, documentaries and award-winning television series for over 15 years. Amine founded States of Sound in 2005 which handles music supervision for independent films, documentaries, television and more. SOS works on projects from mainstream to smaller passion projects with a focus on finding undiscovered musical gems from around the world. Amine is a board member on the Guild of Music Supervisors and lives between LA & Auckland, NZ. Her keen sensibility to create a visceral experience by connecting sight with sound along with an in-depth understanding of music rights and how to navigate the clearance process.
