WIFT Special Screening: Caterpillar (2026) - Tauranga

WIFT Special Screening: Caterpillar (2026) - Tauranga

Posted Thursday 30 Apr 2026

This screening is for TAURANGA

Chelsie Preston Crayford, actor, writer, and force of nature, has made her debut feature film, and we're celebrating! Join us for a special WIFT screening of Caterpillar (2026), bubbles in hand, followed by a Q&A with some of the women who brought it to life.

Set in an early-2000s Wellington household, Caterpillar follows three generations of women navigating love, ambition and change. Single mother Maxine (Marta Dusseldorp) is chasing her filmmaking dreams on a shoestring. Teenage daughter Cassie (Anaïs Shand) is figuring out who she is. And grandmother Huia (Lisa Harrow) quietly faces a dementia diagnosis, retreating into a tender fascination with monarch butterflies as her mind begins to shift.

If you've ever juggled a creative dream with the demands of family life, this is guaranteed to hit close to home.

After the screening, stay for a Q&A with Georgina Condor (Producer), Lisa Harrow (Lead Actor)

The Q&A will be moderated by Emma Powers

NZ On Air - In Person (Christchurch)

NZ ON AIR – in person!

Join us in Christchurch for an informative session with Kelly Davis, Associate Head of Funding at NZ On Air. Moderated by WIFT Executive Director, Patricia Watson, we will explore the current funding strategy following on from NZ On Air ‘s newly published direction for the next four years, in their Statement of Intent, and the plans for the coming financial year.

We will delve into details too e.g. Identifying your audience – do you know who will want to watch your programme? What are some of the common funding application downfalls? Where are the opportunities? What is Te Pae Matarau, The Everyone Project Aotearoa, and how will it serve the wider screen sector?

Mostly, it's time in the room with one of our main funders. It's a chance to ask the questions a form never lets you ask.
Come along to connect, have a wine, and be informed.
