What inspired you to pursue a career in the screen industry?

Knowing I had something worth saying, to say.

What is a project you’re most proud of and why?

Poppy. A wonderful collaboration between me, Robin Laing and Alex Cole-Baker, plus the very talented cast and crew. This opportunity took many years to come to fruition and we were rewarded with screenings at more than 13 festivals internationally, included Ireland, the US, Finland and France. Poppy won multiple awards for writing, directing and acting. Four years after release Poppy will play at the Third Annual Down Syndrome Festival in Palm Springs this week!

The best piece of advice you would give to wāhine entering the screen industry today is?

Stick to your guns and form relationships with people you respect and admire.

Give us one surprising fact about you people might not expect?

I worked on the door of a famous Auckland night club.

And finally, you're running from the apocalypse but can only take three things to watch! What are they?!

Mad Men all series, Barry Lyndon and The Conformist. And, Don't Look Now.
