Charlotte Kelleher creative director at CKFilmdesign

Charlotte Kelleher is the creative director at CKFilmdesign, a costume and art department studio that caters primarily to the independent film industry. Charlotte and her team of designers and technicians provide quality costumes, props and set-building services to the industry with a particular focus on costume design and construction. Fantasy, horror, historical, armour, futuristic... that's what the team lives for!
Charlotte is also part-owner of a production company in the United Kingdom, the B Good Picture Company Ltd, which recently toured the international festival circuit with Playing the Part, a biopic on British actor Sir Ian McKellen. She also has strong relationships with other production companies in the UK and so designs hero costumes for indie features throughout the year. Recent projects in New Zealand include creating World War I ANZAC costumes for Dean O'Gorman's Passchendaele Photographic exhibition at the National War Memorial Museum, building 45 costumes for the Centennial Armistice Day celebrations in Wellington, and working on the creature costumes for a nationwide production of the classic Kiwi children's book The Kuia and the Spider.
Charlotte is an international ambassador for Worbla, a lightweight thermoplastic used widely in the film industry for building armour. She is a Weta Workshop finalist at World of Wearable Arts and has been guest tutor to final year students at Toi Whakaari.
The CK team work from a fully equipped 250sqm workshop in Wellington. As well as designing and building costumes, they also hold a huge collection of film quality, genre based costumes. CK has recently taken over the management of the Avalon Studios wardrobe department, making their collective offering the largest and highest quality industry specific (they don't hire to the public) costume collection in Wellington. Charlotte is now working on a new horror attraction in Wellington and is in pre-production on a feature film based around the New Zealand Land Wars.
