Sarah Grohnert - Director and Editor

 

In 2006, whilst still a film student, Sarah won the BMW Short Film Award in Germany with her
film Anna, Frau. Shortly after film school Sarah wrote and directed a successful online mini-drama series for SKY ONE  UK. In 2008/2009 she was selected for the Director's Guild UK's prestigious mentorship programme and worked closely with veteran director Jon Amiel on his feature film "Creation".
Sarah is a New Zealand resident since 2011. Alongside developing her directing career she has worked as an editor on the award-winning TV ONE show "Radar across the Pacific" as well as several Pakipūmeka documentaries for MTS.
Her first feature documentary Ever The Land premiered at NZIFF 2015 to much critical acclaim. It has since enjoyed its international premiere at Vancouver IFF and earned Sarah a nomination for the Margaret Mead Filmmaker Award in New York City. It is currently enjoying a wonderful festival run (it premiered internationally in Vancouver at VIFF, Sarah was nominated for a Margaret Mead Filmmaker Award in NYC, she has just come back from Tassie Eco Film Festival in Hobart and the film is also currently screening at Hawaii Int Film Festival.
At the beginning of December, Sarah will be joining a delegation from NZFC to travel to Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival in China where there's a special focus on female documentary filmmakers this year. EVER THE LAND was chosen to screen and she will accompany the film to take part in the festival conversation.

Sarah is currently in development for her first fiction feature film in collaboration with best-selling NZ fiction author Sue Orr.
