Following a meeting with the AFIFO team, the festival organisers have decided to extend the registration date until 15th October instead of 1st October as initially stated. This year registration has indeed been disrupted as the offices of the association have moved in order to enable project owners to submit their applications in optimum conditions. The Festival takes place 3rd to 9th February 2014 at the Maison de la Culture in Tahiti.

Documentaries between 15 minutes to 90 minutes long can thus be submitted or sent to the FIFO Association office until this new date. It is possible to register online or by post, date as per postmark.  read more

Short Film Competition at FIFO

Documentary remains at the heart of the festival, but five years ago FIFO opened out to fiction with the "Oceanic Fiction Night." The success of this evening event encouraged the organisers to create a new category. The 11th FIFO will therefore host a new category: the "short doc," intended for short documentaries (maximum 6 minutes).

Different formats provide the festival and the public with informative content, each in their own way gaining from the diversity of life in Oceania.

"Oceanic Fiction Night": directors have until 15th October to submit their short fiction films between 2 and 30 minutes long, in order to participate in the now well-established "Oceanic Fiction Night."
Note the date of this wonderful evening: Saturday 1st February 2014 at the Grand Théâtre in the Maison de la Culture. Like last year, there is an opportunity to vote for your favourite short film, which will be awarded by a prize of 1,000 euros offered by the AFIFO.

"Short Docs": furthermore, a new category is opening at this 11th FIFO. "Short Docs": in other words, short documentary films, portraying an author's view on a subject relevant to Oceania of their choice (characters, cultural, society, historical or environmental issues, etc.). Reviews and news reports, clips and short fiction films are excluded. Documentary-fiction is however acceptable.
Other requirement : the documentaries presented need to be original work. The documentaries should last a maximum of 6 minutes.
To compete you have until the deadline on 1st December to submit films at the FIFO office.
Make a note of Monday 3rd February 2014 at the Grand Théâtre de la Maison de la Culture to come and discover promising and original "short docs"!
