What does 'power' mean to you? Here's your chance to explain.
Loading Docs invites New Zealand filmmakers to submit proposals for
the 2019 collection of short documentaries, and the theme is power.
As a creative motivation, be it physical, internal, social,
political, emotional or psychological, the 2019 theme challenges
documentary makers to propose shorts that can excite audiences with
the power of a documentary story well told. Ideas might speak to
power imbalances, questioning authority or spotlighting energy and
sustainability concerns. They could also explore leadership, mana,
autonomy or sovereignty among other salient issues. In previous
years films were limited to three minutes, but this year, they can
be between three and eight minutes long. Proposals are requested
that speak to Māori, Pasifika and Asian perspectives. There is also
provision for a documentary in te reo Māori to complete the
collection.
