If you fancy a day at the flicks, get along to the Civic in Auckland on Sunday 22 November for a one-day-only, mini film festival hosted by Doc Edge and Auckland Live!

All films are $18 (plus booking fees) apart from The Apollo which is free, but needs to be booked online. Early bookings are recommended.

Schedule:

11.00 am - High Tide Don't Hide

Inspired by Greta Thunberg, this documentary follows five Kiwi teenagers who rally against anxiety, climate denial and each other to pull together record-setting school strikes in Aotearoa.

1.00 pm - The Apollo

The acclaimed music documentary that chronicles the unique history of Harlem's famous cathedral culture. The film is available for FREE thanks to HBO documentary and Oscar-winning filmmaker, Roger Ross Williams.

3.30 pm - The Man on the Island Followed by a Q&A with director Simon Mark Brown and Colin McLaren.

This cinematic art piece is a story about Colin, an artistic and erudite 77 year-old who has self-isolated for 30 years on Rakino, a tiny island in the Hauraki Gulf.

6.00 pm - The Painter and the Thief

This 2020 Sundance Festival award-winning film tells the story about a stranger-than-fiction friendship between the painter and the thief who stole her paintings.
