Round Toru, NZ on Air

A reminder that Round Toru from NZ on Air is currently open:

Allocations for this round are:

  • Approximately $4m for Non-Fiction projects
    • In this round, they will accept Non-Fiction screen applications for documentaries, general factual, comedy panel shows and unscripted comedy shows, and partial financing of documentary feature films.  
    • They will consider applications with international intellectual property, but priority will be given to local formats.  They will accept podcast applications in this round but please refer to our guidelines to ensure your podcast meets their funding criteria.
  • Approximately $6m for Scripted projects
    • For this round, they will prioritise applications seeking $1m to ~$3m per project. They will accept applications seeking under $1m but will likely preference those with a finance plan that includes third-party funding. Drama and comedy are both eligible, as well as partial financing of feature films.  
  • Approximately $3m for rangatahi content
    • They welcome applications for Scripted and Non-Fiction projects that will reach rangatahi audiences (15 – 24-year-olds).
  • Approximately $3.5m for tamariki content
    • They welcome both Scripted and Non-Fiction children’s projects.

Applications Close: Thursday 30 January 2025, 4pm

  • Late applications will not be considered. In very exceptional circumstances, for time-sensitive projects agreed prior by a Co-Head of Funding, they may consider an out-of-time application.

  • This date may be extended at NZ On Air’s sole discretion.
