Screen Australia has released some interesting facts and figures about the state of the documentary industry across the Tasman.  The report, Documentary Production in Australia 2010, is available online at Screen Australia, and reveals that documentary as a percentage of audiovisual production costs is only two to three per cent in Australia, compared to 11 per cent in New Zealand and 21 per cent in Canada.  According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Statistics NZ, both countries spent $45 million of their local currency on documentary production in 2006/07. Documentary production spend in Canada, meanwhile, amounted to CAD$440m for the same period.
