Designed to offer practical guidance on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community, the Women's Empowerment Principles - Equality Means Business were launched last month in celebration of International Women's Day at a conference in New York. Developed through a year-long multi-stakeholder consultation process led by UNIFEM and the UN Global Compact, the Principles are informed by actual business practices and expertise gathered from across the globe. The Principles include: Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality; treat all women and men fairly at work; and promote education, training and professional development for women.
