New Zealand-born screenwriter/director Jane Campion and Pakistani director Ayesha Arif Khan have laid a complaint with India's Ministry of Urban Development, claiming they were sexually harassed by the husband of the festival organiser during the India International Women Film Festival (IIWFF) held in December last year.  The Times of India reported that Campion also branded the festival a fraud in her complaint, stating she had attended only because the organizers had claimed the festival was connected with the government ministry.
