The New Zealand Film Archive has begun a major new initiative as part of its relationship with Te Mangai Paho, the Mori broadcasting funding agency. Since signing an archiving agreement in 2008, more than 2,000 hours of Te Mangai Paho-funded Mori Television programmes have been captured and preserved by the Film Archive's kaikohikohi (collection co-ordinator) and kairangahau (te reo Mori cataloguer). Around 1,600 key programmes from the first four years of broadcasts by Mori Television are now being digitised by the Film Archive at their Newmarket studios.
