Services to film and television were strongly acknowledged in this year's New Years Honours list. Alongside filmmaker Peter Jackson, who became a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, honours were bestowed on screen powerhouses Merata Mita and Judy Bailey (a former member of the WIFT Auckland Honorary Board) and industry leaders George Henare, Lorraine Isaacs and Geoffrey Clements.
