Oops: World Cinema Showcase Correction

Posted Tuesday 19 Apr 2011

Last week we ran some World Cinema Showcase info provided to us by the festival organisers. One of the films they highlighted was the NZ doco, Operation 8. Unfortunately we need to apologise to Abi King-Jones, who was mistakenly credited in the info as the producer of the film, when in reality she is co-director and co-editor with Errol Wright - who is in fact the sole producer. Sorry, Abi and Errol.
In a related note, another member noted that apart from the four films highlighted last week, many other films in the showcase have women involved in other roles, not just as director or producer. Too right.
Unfortunately due to the volume of news items we go through every week (and the time we have to do it in!), we can't check every fact provided to us in news copy from external sources - so if you see a credits error, please send us an email, and we'll rectify it in the next enews.
However, if you want to make a fuller comment on a news item that seems too brief or one-sided, we'd love you to express your views through our site comments (you'll see a link at the bottom of each news item on the site). It's the best way to highlight important issues to our members, create dialogue around important topics, and alert external news sources to our views.
