MPA-CICE Film Workshop Call for Applications

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) Asia Pacific and the China International Copyright Expo (CICE) are holding a film workshop in Beijing on 1-2 December 2011. The workshop will bring together senior international and Chinese film industry professionals and emerging filmmakers to exchange ideas on the craft, business and technology of filmmaking. It will also give the opportunity to filmmakers to develop their careers and build networks. Topics include:

Day 1: Thursday 1 December

  • Opportunities for growth and innovation in the screen industry in China
  • Co-production and business opportunities between China and the international community
  • Developing a script that works
  • Producing feature film and television in the US
  • All things digital, 3D and creative approaches

Day 2: Friday 2 December

  • Welcome to China: Working with government, creative partnerships, conducting good business and legal tips
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial ways to develop your filmmaking career
  • Feature film script pitching competition

New Zealanders who wish to attend the China International Copyright Expo should email applications to the NZFC Professional Development Executive, Bonnie Slater bonnie@nzfilm.co.nz by September 30.

Applications should include:

  • A CV from the applicant outlining credits and experience.
  • A letter indicating the applicant's interest in working with the China screen industry their slate of relevant projects, statements of particular areas in which they believe the workshop could assist their future practice and their plans for building on the experience gained there.
