Earlier this year, New Zealand producers under 30 years were invited to submit written applications to SKY's BBC Knowledge for five short-form grants of NZ $5,000 each. BBC Knowledge was in search of New Zealand stories that reflected the essence of the channel - intelligent, informative, innovative and sometimes irreverent. The winning producers were announced in June, and a busy few months of production ensued.
The NZ Young Producer Shorts 2011 recently premiered exclusively on BBC Knowledge, on Sky Television, and will continue to appear throughout the BBC Knowledge schedule into 2012.
Deirdre Brennan, Director of Television for BBC Worldwide Australia, said, "These films really highlight the incredible creativity and tenacity of the country's young film-makers. I would also like to thank the broader production sector for their support - I'm delighted to announce that BBC Knowledge will continue with this initiative in 2012."
Entries are now open for the NZ Young Producer Shorts 2012. There are five short-form grants of NZ $5,000 on offer and Kiwi factual producers under 30 will be invited to submit their written concepts. Entries close on 26 February 2012. Further details and entry information can be found here.
