Tropfest 2012: Call for Submissions

Posted Wednesday 14 Dec 2011

The world's largest short film festival is calling for submissions. Movie Extra Tropfest announced last week that filmmakers have just four weeks to enter the world's largest short film festival (as enews is fortnightly, it's now three!). The deadline for entries is Thursday 5th January 2012 at 6pm (AEDT), and Tropfest is urging film buffs to grab their camera or mobile phone and start shooting now for a chance to shine. Finalist films are screened to a massive live audience at events across Australia (and now NZ - see item in Industry News) on Sunday 19 February 2012, and broadcast live on Australian subscription TV channel MOVIE EXTRA. John Polson, Tropfest Founder and Director says there's still enough time to get your winning film together. "We've seen entrants submit brilliant work that has been shot over an afternoon, so 4 weeks is plenty of time to shoot a winning film." 2010 Tropfest winner Damon Gameau encourages everyone to enter. "I shot my film over two weeks with my mum and girlfriend. 4 weeks is plenty of time to get a winning film together and the rewards that Tropfest offer make it all the more worthwhile. I've had the year of my life." This year, films must contain the 2012 Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) "LIGHT BULB". For full submission info, see the Tropfest website.
