Rates of violence against women in the Pacific Islands remain some of the highest in the world.
In 2009 a milestone for women of the Pacific was reached when leaders at the Pacific Islands Forum committed to ending violence against women. For the first time in 40 years, the widespread issue of violence against women in the Pacific was being taken seriously by high-level officials. But since then, very little has been done to address this epidemic. Amnesty International is running a petition to appeal to Pacific Leaders to end violence towards women in their jurisdiction, so of course, we urge you to add your name here.
