Is there a 'type' of film that women filmmakers gravitate towards?Kathyrn Bigelow would probably say no. And female directors attending the Shanghai International Film Festival forum have said gender doesn't play a role when it came to deciding which films they direct or the types of movies they make.
"It's not a question about gender. I think a film is like a child of the director. It inherits the characteristics of the director as an individual. I tend to make films based on my personal history," said Mabel Cheung, a Chinese director.
