We're pleased to announce that Katie Wolfe has won the Mana Wahine Award at the recent Wairoa Film Festival. Katie (Ngati Tama, Ngati Mutunga, Pakeha) is a filmmaker, actor and director, having completed two short films (This is Her and Redemption) and most recently directed her first feature Nights in the Garden of Spain which is screening next month at Frameline Film Festival in San Francisco.

The Mana Wahine Award is a new award at the Wairoa festival, and will now be presented annually by WIFT in association with festival organisers.
Katie said "I find it hard to find the words to express my gratitude for the Mana Wahine award. But it is something that I will treasure always, my work in Maori storytelling and that of storytelling about women is of great importance to me and so this award supports and nurtures these passions. Nga mihi, nga mihi, nga mihi."
