Free Australian Event: Audience Engagement and Creating the Low Budget Film

Posted Tuesday 22 Mar 2011

Here's a great free event series for Melbourne-based members - Stephen Cleary: 2011 Creative Writing Public Lecture Series. Titled Audience Engagement and Creating the Low Budget Film, the series takes place Wednesdays 23 and 30 March 2011 at 6.00pm at the Victorian College of the Arts.

"Given how easily low-budget films are able to reach audiences today - and this is going to get even easier as time passes - I find it increasingly difficult to understand why first-time features, overwhelmingly public funded, cost millions of dollars rather than hundreds of thousands of dollars, to produce." (Cleary, 2010).

23rd March: Structuring Through Key Scenes
30th March: Thoughts on How We Might Develop Better
Currently international development consultant in the SAFC FilmLab program, Stephen Cleary has previously worked as Head of Development at British Film and been involved in the production of almost 70 feature films during his career. Find more info here.
