Twelve Nelson students are busy making short films on inspiring young Nelson people. The students participated in a two-day workshop led by internationally award-winning young film-maker Guy Ryan.
The 25-year-old is heading a youth-focused initiative in 2011 called Inspiring Stories - a workshop for inspiring young film-makers. The workshop is being held all over New Zealand and is part of a nationwide project that aims to spark a series of short film productions by connecting young film-makers with young people making a difference in their community. Nelson was the first place to host the workshop.
Ryan was selected as the 2011 Vodafone World of Difference recipient, which means Vodafone is providing his salary and expenses to head the project for a year. The project is being run under the Inspiring Stories Charitable Trust, which was founded by the film-maker.
The short films will be between two and four minutes long and will be showcased at the Inspiring Stories Film Festival in Wellington in November.
