Local feature film Russian Snark (wri/dir Stephen Sinclair & prod Liz DiFiore prod company Godzone Pictures) last week picked up an award for Best International Feature at the Garden State Film Festival in New Jersey.
This adds to their 6 nominations and 1 award at the Qantas NZ Film and TV Awards 2010, and the 3 nominations at the US based Maverick Movie Awards in December. Russian Snark stars Stephen Papps as Misha (who learned Russian for the role) and native Russian speaker Elena Stejko as Nadia. Russian Snark is the story of a Russian couple who sail to NZ on a small life boat and once here deal with the challenges of trying live artistic lives despite the realities of daily life in Aotearoa. Godzone Pictures will be distributing the film in New Zealand later this year.
