In Memoriam: WIFT Member Carol Davidson

Posted Tuesday 15 Nov 2011

WIFT members were shocked to hear news of the death in Nepal of Carol Davidson who was a founding member of WIFT in Wellington. Carol, who had remarried two months ago, was on her honeymoon with her new husband Christopher Mark Bishop when they lost control of their motorbike on the Tribhuvwan Highway (100kms from Kathmandu).
Carol worked at the Film Commission for many years before taking up a job with the New Zealand International Festival of the Arts and more recently with Radio New Zealand. She is fondly remembered as a staunch supporter of New Zealand filmmakers and filmmaking. Her warm personality and sense of fun livened up many an industry event.

Carol remained a supporter of WIFT long after she left the film industry and her lively presence and enthusiasm will be sadly missed by us all. Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family especially her daughter and closest friend Lisa.

Carol's funeral service will be held at Old St Pauls, Mulgrave Street, Wellington on November 16th at 3pm.
