This is a quote from an article entitled Hollywood Still Typecasting Women. But you know that - every few weeks we seem to run links to research that reinforces that fact. And, in fact, recent research done by Geena Davis' Institute on Gender in Media supports this and says that this typecasting leads to clearly negative influences on young girls.
We know that the more hours of television a girl watches, the fewer options she thinks she has in life," she said. "So there's clearly a very, very strong message coming through - that boys are picking up too, by the way - that girls can't do as many things as boys can."
So why have we changed the title? Despite the current research findings, Davis thinks that Hollywood IS getting the message. Read more from this article and watch the related video here.
And in related news to this story, Disney is getting ready to release a new female detective movie, The HollyWood Reporter says.
