Some WIFT members are looking for a venue for their show 'Party With the Aunties' which premiered in a garage in in Wellington Road, Paekakariki. Now touring the show to Wellington in November, they are seeking a venue - perhaps a garage near you.
Party with the Aunties was director Erina Daniel's final project of the MasterTheatreArts programme (Victoria University and Toi Whakaari). She says "I wanted to remind myself of a way of being... A party with our family - it is a chance for us to get together and enjoy being us, enjoy each other's humour, enjoy testing out our tendencies on one another, come what may."
"Party with the Aunties" is a show based on parties that we have had with our families, and the songs that we sing at those parties. Audiences are invited to have a drink, and a relax, and maybe even a sing along side with the other characters celebrating Angus' 50th birthday."
"Our show runs at an hour 15. Evening shows begin at 7.30. We will bring about 40 people per night, for 5 nights to the garage. There will be singing, and laughing, and some scenes outside - so, it's important we let the neighbourhood know what's going on. Although aimed at adults, the show is children-friendly. We require a very large garage (say - double garage) with another entry/exit point besides the main garage door/car entry; the garage needs to be relatively clear of the householders effects and we need to have access to electricity. We will fund koha towards venue costs and upkeep."
