Congratulations to April Phillips of Wellington, who has won a feature film script assessment for As Seen on TV. The award, which comes through the NZ Writer's Guild script reader service is valued at $368. April is thrilled and is looking forward to seeing her script advance further. The treatment competition is organised to reflect the importance of well-written short documents to support feature film scripts, particularly when applying for funding. NZWG's next competition will be the 'Unproduced Feature Film Script', and further details and a call for entries will go out Monday 20 May, with entries due by Friday 21 June. The winner is announced at the annual SWANZ awards, and receives $500 in prize money.
April's talents don't stop at writing winning scripts. She has just acted in a short film she wrote, Letter For Hope. The film was shot in Wellington over March/April and directed by fellow WIFT member, Raquel Roderick. It was executive produced by Cas'n'Ova Productions and co-produced by Treetop Productions and Godiva Productions Limited. It is now in post production. See here for more information www.letterforhope.com and keep an eye on the WIFT website for screening times and locations once it's a wrap.
