The New Zealand Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc.), Artists Alliance and Advertising & Illustrative Photographers Association (AIPA) are concerned about the ongoing infringement of creatives' moral and economic rights, and the growing trend against the concept of copyright in general.
They would like to join with other organisations that represent the creative industries to discuss ways that everyone can proactively work towards developing respect for intellectual property in a digital environment.
The objective is to create respect for creative works within the general public. Their goals are to protect creatives' work and their right for fair reward and to facilitate artists' rights being portrayed in a positive, proactive manner.
If this is something you feel is important and would like to be part of a group that could make a difference, please see details of an initial meeting:
Coalition of Creative Organisations (COCO) on Monday 22 July 10-11am at AUT Creative Writing Centre, Level 12, AUT Tower, cnr Rutland and Wakefield Streets, Auckland.
Please confirm your interest to Maggie director@nzauthors.org.nz or 09.379 4801.
