Mark 8 August at 12.30pm in your diaries for an Auckland lunchtime session with former ABC director, Kim Dalton. Further details including the venue will be announced shortly. Meantime here's some background info...
Kim Dalton was the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Director of Television from 2006 until December 2012. Before this appointment, Dalton had been chief executive of the Australian Film Commission since 1999.
In 2007 Dalton was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the film and television industry in policy, in assistance to Indigenous producers and in the promotion of emerging visual technology.
During his time at the ABC Dalton led controversial staff and programming cuts including the end of the weekly arts show, Art Nation and the closure of television production facilities in Hobart. In response to these cuts, Dalton said he had increased resources committed to primetime arts programming to be commissioned from the independent production sector.
It promises to be a lively and interesting session so make sure you keep 8 August free!
