WIFT member Sumner Burstyn and fellow documentary filmmaker Tom Burstyn cleaned up at the Hot Docs Pitch Forum in Toronto recently with their new film Some Kind of Love.

The Hot Docs Forum is the most effective international documentary market in North America for international co-production financing. This year 19 teams presented to representatives from 18 countries.

Tom Burstyn along with Canadian co-production partner Trish Dolman from Screen Siren received immediate cash offers around the table from ten broadcasters with more in negotiation. They went on to win the pitch with a CAN$10,000 cash prize. They were also runner-up in the audience award.

The Burstyn's have been working on Some Kind of Love for three years. Top broadcasters such as the BBC, Super Channel and ARTE have now come on board. The Burstyn's previous film This Way of Life was shortlisted for an Oscar. Some Kind of Love was rejected for funding in New Zealand. It is currently in post-production in Canada.
