Development Funding Update
The NZFC development team is continuing to receive a very high volume of applications on a regular basis. In the first quarter of our 2013/14 financial year (which commenced 1 July 2013), the total ask was $914,100, which is close to the total yearly development budget ($1m).
Most of the applications we receive are strong and come from experienced filmmakers. By way of example, all of the funding applications for the October Early Development Fund meeting have producers attached with at least one feature credit to their name.
This is an increasingly competitive environment. As always, we encourage filmmakers to ensure their projects are in the strongest form possible before applying for NZFC funding, whether this be development or production funding.
