Penelope Borland to leave SPADA

Posted Tuesday 17 Sep 2013

WIFT would like to acknowledge all Penelope has done in nearly ten years at the helm of SPADA (Screen Production and Development Association) through some very challenging times for us all. She has worked tirelessly for the wellbeing of the screen industry, SPADA and the guilds.   Penelope is a valued member of the WIFT community and we look forward to her on-going participation in WIFT activities - we wish her the very best for her future.

Penelope joined SPADA in 2004 following a career in arts advocacy, communications, law and journalism.

SPADA President Matt Emery says: "On behalf of the SPADA board I'd like to thank Penelope for her tireless work and contribution to the organisation. During her tenure Penelope has overseen the implementation of many policy initiatives which have benefited the organisation, its members and the industry as a whole. We wish Penelope every success for the future".

"It's been a privilege to advocate for the independent New Zealand screen industry through rapidly changing times in the film and television environment, to work with wonderful people and build some strong relationships.  I have enormous admiration for the highly self motivated individuals who take on the challenging, driving role of screen producing and while I leave with some sadness I know that there will be some real highlights and some exciting projects ahead for the independent sector," says Penelope.

Penelope's last day in the SPADA office will be Friday 20 September 2013.

In light of Penelope's departure, SPADA will be carrying out a thorough review of its operation and its board will be meeting shortly to consider future plans.
