PROGRAMME COMMISSIONER and SENIOR PROGRAMME COMMISSIONER

Maori Television has two commissioner opportunities arising within our external programming team. Applications close 19 May 2014.

PROGRAMME COMMISSIONER - Bilingual Programming

The Commissioner role is responsible for identifying,assessing and commissioning new programmes from the independent production industry. This position will oversee programming with low to medium Te Reo Maori language content. The skills required for this appointment are an in-depth knowledge of television production, the ability to build strong and productive working relations with independent producers and a clear understanding of the aims and aspirations of Maori Television.

The Commissioner reports to the Senior Commissioner and joins a team dedicated to working closely with the independent production community, developing a collaborative and productive environment that provides high quality external programmes for Maori Television.

SENIOR COMMISSIONER

The Senior Commissioner will ideally already possess a solid background in commissioning or similar experience and can lead, guide and support the team of commissioners. Proven experience within the independent television production industry is required to be successful in this role, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This role reports to the General Manager Programming

For both these positions, a good understanding of Tikanga Maori (Maori culture) is required and a command of Te Reo Maori would be an advantage.
