Chick Flicks Film Festival

Women in Film Dallas is now accepting short film submissions for the 13th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival!

They accept narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental short films in any genre with a runtime of 35 minutes or less. Our 2014 categories are Female Filmmakers and Flicks by Texas Chicks.

In honor of WIFD's 30th Anniversary they will be awarding cash prizes! The Best of Fest winner will take home $1,000.00 and the Best Student Film will win $300.00.

The Chick Flicks Film Festival will be held on October 2, 2014 at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.

Hurry, and submit your work by August 14 to receive a discount! We will be accepting submissions until August 28th.

Off-Script: Creating Drama Through Improvisation with Robert Marchand (AUS)

EVENT: Wed 27 August, 6-7pm, Nga Taonga Sound and Vision (formerly The Film Archive), WGTN

Wellington Writers' Room with Australian director and academic  Robert Marchand. Robert will talk to story advisor and acting coach  Brita McVeigh about the relationship between filmmakers and actors in the process of character-based improvisation.

Emerging filmmakers can feel bound by the orthodoxy of the filmmaking process. How can writers and directors get to the heart of the story by engaging their actors earlier on in the process? This discussion is aimed at writers and directors, as well as actors.
