See below for a tonne of exciting info about the upcoming Animfxers conference in Wellington....

OK Animfxers - the final sessions are now up online  with a creative/animation workshop stream totally redeeming Valentine's day on Friday 14 along with even more incredible visual and techy treats out at Park Road Post at the amazing Weta Digital Workshop Day at Park Road Post.

Our animation/creative workshop stream on Friday will open with a classroom style session with Oscar award winning writer David Seidler. This is a pretty remarkable opportunity to get hands on with a world class scriptwriter and the session is open to anyone that has registered for the day at AnimfxNZ. While the stream is still open, we will soon close off registrations to this to ensure the session is as interactive and comprehensive as possible for attendees.

The creative/animation workshop will also feature sessions with the award-winning and internationally feted ReSN Digital on the groundbreaking work they undertook for Fifa featuring a life sized Lionel Messi lead developers Brendal Zachernuk and Matt Halford will take the session through the techniques pipelines and processes they used to generate this project as well as other highlights from their 2013 work.

Pik Pok's Mark Cuthbert will also be presenting a hands-on workshop presenting insider animation and rigging techniques drawing on Pik Pok's last 13 years of titles and encompassing everything from early PC consoles through to modern smart devices.

All this and more detail and sessions are online here for you to feast your workshop hungry eyes upon

And as if the, already advertised, workshops on the mind blowing characters and action sequences of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, along with creature work from the latest installment from the Wolverine sequence, wasn't enough to blow your high-end vfx lovin' minds right open; we've now added the world creation from the astounding Laketown sequences from The Hobbit: DOS to the line up for Saturday's Weta Digital Workshop

Like Gandalf (pretty much) says: Register now you fools! :

If you are a writer, director, producer or script developer with a track record don't miss this opportunity to hone your creative practice and advance your career. The FilmUp Programme is back and includes an exciting new strand.

FilmUp Mentorship continues to provide filmmaker participants 20 hours of one-on-one mentorships with acclaimed practitioners. 2013 attracted esteemed mentors including writer  Neil Cross (Spooks, Luther), director  Rolf de Deer (Ten Canoes, Bad Boy Bubby) and producer of over 20 feature films,  Tim White.

We're also thrilled to announce an exciting second strand,  FilmUp Script Development, especially designed to up-skill those of you working with writers developing screenplays, whether you be producers, script editors, or directors.

Experienced coach and story consultant,  Brita McVeigh, will be at the helm of this strand, working with participants to hone their story skills and process when collaborating with writers.

She's a genuine collaborator. Every project is different and Brita's skill is that she knows how to find the weak spots and strengthen them. She knows how to work closely on the script with the writer/director, or in rehearsal with the cast, to enhance the vision - that's how she worked with Taika on 'Boy'.
