Festival organizers of the Alliance Franaaise French Film Festival 2014 are delighted to announce that French actor Pierre Rochefort will travel to New Zealand during the festival.
Pierre Rochefort plays the lead role in Nicole Garcia's exquisite Going Away, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival 2013 to great acclaim and features superbly naturalistic performances from the stellar cast.
Rochefort initially trained for a career in music but an inherent love of acting led him to switch studies. To date he has amassed several credits including Farewell My Queen and the eerie TV series, The Returned. Going Away marks his first lead role.
Rochefort will be guest-of-honour at the public Wellington Premiere of Going Away on Monday 24 March, 6:30pm, at the Embassy Theatre. A Q+A session will follow the screening. Booking is essential and can be booked via www.deluxe.co.nz
A special thanks to Unifrance, Hi-Gloss Entertainment and the Alliance Franaaise French Film Festival in Australia for their support of this initiative.
MIRIAMA BONO AND KHADIDJA BENOUATAF
This year marks the first year where the festival has partnered up with FIFO, the Pacific International Documentary Film Festival, which is based in Tahiti. The Alliance Franaaise French Film Festival will showcase exclusive FIFO screenings that feature two French-language documentaries with a distinctly Pacific flavour.
As an architect and artist, Festival Director Miriama Bono has organised FIFO for three years. Passionate about Polynesian contemporary art, she participates in several events related to her country's culture. Over the past three years, she has infused her artistic sensibility, passion and heritage into FIFO, which she regards as the ideal event to showcase Pacific Island cultures and countries.
Miriama and Festival Manager Khadidja Benouataf will present "FilmTalk: A Spotlight on the Pacific" to be held at Rialto Cinemas Newmarket in Auckland on Saturday 1 March at 10:30am. A Q+A with Bono and Benouataf will follow the screening of the two FIFO documentaries. Tickets on sale now from www.rialto.co.nz
