Show Me Shorts Intern 2014

Show Me Shorts is New Zealand's only Academy Awards accredited film festival, showcasing the top new short films from here and around the world in cinemas nationwide every November. 2014 is the ninth edition of the festival and we are looking to expand our team to accommodate our growing event.

Reporting to the Festival Coordinator and the Festival Director, the Show Me Shorts Intern 2014 will be a bright, proactive and film-loving member of our team. They will be organised, punctual, resourceful, energetic, keen to learn, undaunted by repetitive low-level administrative tasks, calm in a crisis and have a passion for colour-coded spreadsheets. Help our team of dedicated volunteers to run New Zealand's major short film festival!

The Show Me Shorts Intern 2014 position will be flexible, working 10 hours per week, ideally in two blocks of five hours. The role will commence in March and conclude in December (exact dates TBC). You would also need to be available for up to two meetings a month (Thursday evenings for 2-3 hours). During the festival in November we would need you to be available to work some additional evenings and weekends, especially during the Auckland event, which runs 5-20 November.

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

?      General correspondence

?      Creating lists and spreadsheets

?      Collecting post

?      Tracking films

?      Assisting with surveys and collecting data

?      Assisting with events as required (e.g. opening night, film talks, programme launch, short film lab)

?      Managing delivery of prizes

?      Communicating with filmmakers

?      Contacting schools and community groups about the festival

?      Coordinate bookings for schools sessions and liaise with the cinemas

?      Helping to complete film censorship submissions

?      Helping with all festival related admin as required

Skills required:

?      Excellent written and oral communications skills

?      Detail orientated

?      Love of short film

?      Creative

?      Proactive

?      Ideally will have a drivers license

You will need your own laptop to work from.

This is an unpaid opportunity, but the festival will offer:

?      A written reference at the conclusion of the internship

?      Flexible working hours to fit around work or study

?      The opportunity to learn how a world-class film festival operates

?      Any out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed

?      The chance to work with a fun team of volunteers and be a part of an exciting national event

Work from our small Grey Lynn office, where we will provide access to a phone, printer, WIFI and other services as required. This internship is an ideal way to gain experience across many different areas of the film industry.

Show Me Shorts Marketing Intern 2014

The purpose of the Show Me Shorts Marketing Intern 2014 role is to support our marketing team with all areas of communication about the festival. The focus will be on keeping track of our advertising, PR and other marketing activity during the year, according to our marketing strategy and plan. If you're looking to gain marketing experience and work with experienced marketing professionals who are willing to teach you, this role is for you.

?      Helping with festival related admin, marketing and events as required

 

Skills required:

?      Excellent written and oral communications skills

?      Marketing, media, or communications degree (or similar such as currently working towards one)

?      Experience copy writing for media releases, websites and social media

?      Detail orientated

?      Love of short film

?      Creative

?      Proactive

Television Producer Les Mills (12 month Fixed Term)

The Role

Producing video assets for a number of LES MILLS� children's fitness programs, which are currently in development

Managing filming, post production and budget requirements

Managing production processes and supplier relationships. With your industry contacts, you'll set up new relationships as, and when, required

Managing translation processes

Ensuring production deadlines are met

Your Must Haves

Proven experience producing high quality television content (particuarly developing and producing television formats for children)

Proven experience developing and proposing television formats to Television Networks

Ability to cost and price product development

Experience in the manufacturing processes, capacity management, production reviews and production monitoring

Experience managing people and resources

Ability to build processes and systems

High degree of computer literacy

Manager - Cultural Performance Sector

We have a challenging opportunity for an experienced manager with expertise in Crown entity and public organisation performance monitoring, to join our Cultural Policy Branch to lead work in a diverse sector of interest to all New Zealanders. Maori taonga and cultural expression, heritage collections and places, the visual and performing arts, the screens sector, print media and digital games, sport and recreation - are all facing shifts in the way they are financed, produced, distributed and experienced.

In this position, you will work directly with Ministers, senior officials, Boards and senior executives in a range of cultural agencies and businesses.

You will be responsible for oversight of monitoring, analysis and reporting on the performance of 20 significant Crown funded cultural organisations including Creative New Zealand, the NZ Film Commission, New Zealand on Air, the NZHistoric Places Trust and Sport New Zealand. You will work with your policy manager colleagues to manage collaborative relationships with these and related cultural and public sector agencies.

You will lead staff and project teams to:

Provide advice to Ministers, Treasury and the State Services Commission on the performance of Crown-funded cultural organisations

Lead and develop the Ministry's performance monitoring work to assist the funded cultural organisations to develop and be successful.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience at a senior level in leading, designing, analysing and implementing performance monitoring systems for Crown entities and other public sector organisations

Significant experience at a senior level in advising Ministers and/or Boards, Select Committees and working with senior officials in other agencies

A tertiary qualification relevant to the responsibilities of the position

Strong analytical ability and an inquiring mind

You will have experience in:

Leading and developing teams

Creating and maintaining active and effective stakeholder relationships

Working with iwi and Maori organisations to achieve shared cultural goals

Commissioning and interpreting qualitative and quantitative research

An appreciation of the cultural sector, both in New Zealand and internationally

An ability to use initiative and lead others to get the job done.
