Dave Gibson gave a presentation to around 200 industry members on Monday 24 February in Auckland as part of a nationwide tour. He shared his views on the direction for the NZFC and he outlined his ideas and strategy on working together. He called for more engagement between the NZFC and the industry and he welcomed discussion on the industry and a path to its successful future, and the role the Film Commission might play in terms of providing leadership and resource. He outlined some immediate changes around the NZFC's involvement in film sales and said he would be beefing up the marketing side of the commission's work and setting up a research facility to capture more information about the industry.
Feedback was very positive and we recommend that WIFT members throughout the country attend the briefings as Dave's tour rolls out over the next couple of weeks.
