Script to Screen is now calling for applications for their second Writers' Lab Aotearoa - a five day intensive residential lab where selected writers will workshop their feature scripts under the guidance of highly esteemed international and local mentors.
Application Deadline: 5pm, Monday 20th April 2015
Lab Dates: 7th - 12th July 2015
I loved the way my brain developed during that week and became more focused and perceptive to all the possibilities around storytelling. I loved the way I returned home incredibly positive and invigorated towards my craft - previous to the Lab, largely through working on the same script for two years, I had grown cold to the process entirely. Now I feel really good and really excited about being a writer again. - Nic Gorman, 2014 participant
The Lab is centered around rigorous development meetings with mentors, supplemented by the writers' own time for reflection and access to our experienced advisory board to sound off or consult about their story or the industry in general. Last year's participants relished the beautiful isolation provided at the idyllic Waiheke Island venue, and the environment which allowed them to reach new heights with their stories.
2014's mentors were longstanding Sundance screenwriting mentor Michael Goldenberg (HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX), Academy Award and BAFTA winning screenwriter David Seidler (THE KINGS SPEECH), NZ-based Mexican filmmaker and regular Cannes attendee Dana Rotberg (WHITE LIES) and prolific screenwriter and playwright Briar Grace-Smith (THE STRENGTH OF WATER).
