As a guest of WIFT for a Co-production Summit, with support from the NZ Film Commission, the remarkable Piv Bernth, Head of Drama for Danish Broadcasting DR has just been in Auckland. You may have seen her at the packed-out event Script to Screen ran at Studio One Toi Tu http://www.studioone.org.nz/ (great space for events/sceenings!)but if not, it was filmed and we'll let you know when it is up online.  Piv also did a wonderful thoughtful 40 minute interview with Kim Hill which you can llsten to here: http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/saturday/audio/201776851/piv-bernth-danish-tv

The Killing, The Bridge, Borgen and The Legacy are all distributed by our friends at Madman.  As you will see from the competition, the second series of The Legacy is due for release this week and Madman has set up a code so WIFT members can get $10.00 off the new series. If you would like to order Series 2 off their website you just need to enter the coupon code 'PIV' at the checkout to get the $10 discount applied. Here is a direct link to the product on their website:

And even more, Madman is having a crime campaign (maybe not literally!) in November so The Bridge and The Killing are at almost half price through November.  Go to www.madman.co.nz to buy your Christmas presents!!

An Emmy- and BAFTA-winning producer, Bernth is the force behind the phenomenally successful Danish crime series The Killing, which is credited with kicking off the current wave of small-screen Scandinavian noir. After taking over as head of drama at Denmark's leading public broadcaster DR in 2011, she greenlit and executive produced The Bridge, another global hit that has spawned multiple local remakes. She also greenlit political drama, Borgen, and the latest critically-acclaimed Scandinavian drama The Legacy.

Piv was knighted in 2015 by Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
