The 2016 Fulcrum Media Finance Woman to Watch award winner and WIFT board member, Desray Armstrong is crowdfunding for her independent feature film STRAY on Boosted. Here is a link to the campaign which closes on Friday 6 May www.boosted.org.nz/stray
STRAY is the highly anticipated debut feature film from award-winning filmmaker Dustin Feneley. In a cold and remote landscape, two strangers, a young man and a woman, find solace in each other as they struggle to repair their broken pasts. STRAY is a compelling and unconventional love story of two damaged people who, through their chance connection, ultimately find strength and the opportunity for redemption. Commencing principal photography in August 2016 and set in the stunning Southern Alps, STRAY will be a bold and visionary work of cinema.
The filmmakers are running a 30-day donation-based crowdfunding campaign for the film on Boosted, aiming for the ambitious target of $75,000 NZD. They have raised the bulk of the budget through private investment from arts patrons, in-kind sponsorship from film industry partners and corporate sponsors and are now reaching out to the public via crowdfunding. If they are successful in raising this amount, it will see the film going into production in Central Otago in August this year.
The campaign is now LIVE at: http://www.boosted.org.nz/stray
If you would like to make a donation toward the film, the STRAY team would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit helps. This is how you can make a donation:
1. Visit the STRAY project page at: http://www.boosted.org.nz/stray. You can read about the film, watch a video of the writer/director and producer talking about the film, and see photographs of the film's shooting locations.
2. Click on the big red button that says DONATE. If you don't have a Boosted account, you can create one by clicking on JOIN BOOSTED. Enter your name and email and you're all set.
3. You can use your credit card to make a DONATION of $5 or more.
NZ residents qualify for a 33% tax credit on their donations from the IRD with a receipt automatically provided by The Arts Foundation (as The Arts Foundation is a registered charity) for any donation made.
Boosted is an all-or-nothing platform, so if they don't reach their crowdfunding target by Friday 6 May, all funds that have been donated will be automatically returned to the donors. Meaning they won't receive a dollar which would obviously be very disappointing.
