Women Calling the Shots Festival

The Women Calling the Shots program at the Hamptons Film Festival is open for submissions. Members of all Women in Film Chapters from around the world are invited to submit their short films. Films must be under 20 minutes in length and completed after January 31, 2015. There is no submission fee.

The Women Calling the Shots showcase of short films made by women filmmakers will take place at the 2016 Hamptons International Film Festival.

A partnership between the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) and New York Women In Film & Television (NYWIFT), Women Calling the Shots is in its 14th year. The series gives voice to the creative visions of women through film and video, including narrative, documentary, animation and experimental works.

NYWIFT members of Women in Film chapters worldwide to submit their short films for consideration for this program that is curated by NYWIFT and HIFF. No submission fee is required for applications.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • This application must be submitted by email.
  • Include a one-page synopsis for each submission.
  • SHORTS ONLY: Films must be 20 minutes or less in running time. (There will be no exceptions for films with extended running times.)
  • Film submission: Submit an online link. (Password must be good through October 31st, 2016. The submission will be disqualified if the review panel is unable to screen the work with the link.)
  • To submit a film, download and complete the attached submission form and email to events@nywift.org. Multiple submissions must be sent as separate emails.
  • Non-English films must have subtitles.
  • Completion Date: Films must have been completed after January 31st, 2015.
  • Previous submissions will not be accepted.
  • Submitted films must not have been released theatrically or received a U.S. television broadcast.

Submissions must be RECEIVED electronically by Friday, May 20th, 2016 (11:59pm Eastern Standard US Time)
