Applications for the Aotearoa Short Film Lab close on Wednesday 14 December. Apply
The Aotearoa Short film Lab is a prestigious hothouse mentoring scheme for screenwriters and aspiring screenwriters to workshop new ideas for short film. The Lab was established in 2010 as a partnership between Show Me Shorts and Script to Screen and it offers short film makers the opportunity to develop their short film concepts and scripts with the guidance and advice of experienced industry mentors.
The Lab includes a full-day workshop hosted by the University of Auckland's Screen Production Department in March 2017. It is free to attend the Lab but there is a small $20 NZD application fee. Successful filmmakers will need to cover their own travel costs to Auckland. The mentors in previous years have included international filmmakers such as Jake Mahaffy (whose film Free in Deed was just nominated for four Independent Spirit Awards), Shuchi Kothari, Michael Bennett, Zia Mandviwalla, Jackie van Beek, Dustin Feneley, just to name a few. Between them these mentors have screened or won awards at most major film festivals.
