Filmmakers prepare to get challenged! Whether you have never worked with film before or are a veteran cinematographer it is time to pull up to the view finder and get experimental in the inaugural Super 8x8x8 Film Challenge in Auckland this July.

New Zealand cinematographer and founder of Reversal film lab, Ian Powell, has launched a new Super 8 challenge to shoot a short film on one cartridge of Kodak Tri-X Black and White film with all in camera effects and editing within 8 days to be screened at 8pm on the 16th of July at Studio One Toi T?, Auckland. Powell began Reversal film lab in 2013 with a vision to ignite interest in independent small gauge film making. In late 2015 Powell was a recipient of the inaugural Studio One Toi T? Creative Residency programme and the Super 8x8x8 Film Challenge is the culmination of this creative residency project. Over the last nine months he has been developing his business and creative opportunities for others to learn how to shoot their own 8mm, Super 8, 16mm and Super 16 film for a range of personal, commercial and creative projects.
