Special offer for WIFT members

Posted Monday 23 May 2016

WIFT member Natalie Medlock would like to invite fellow WIFT members to her show The Voice In My Head.

It will be performed at Basement Theatre from May 24 to June 4. The play confronts the topic of abortion through five unique and engaging monologues.

The normal ticketing price of the show is $25 however Natalie would like to offer members the price of $20.

Here's a quick blurb about the show:

Five train rides will take the audience on a journey through a spectrum of comedy and tragedy, moving in space and time from Victorian era Europe to mid-Century Brooklyn, into the depths of WWII and from modern-day Melbourne to an imagined future in 2045. As each woman shares her own account of abortion, we witness the universality of loss, the impact on relationships, and the shifting social and political landscapes that continue to colour a woman's ability to make her own choices.

The Voice In My Head features Natalie Medlock (Shortland StreetFunny GirlsYetiThe Almighty JohnsonsAuckland Daze) and is written and directed by Jodie Molloy (The Jaquie Brown DiariesPlay 2Play 2.3).

YES! They have successfully secured funding from NZ on Air for two projects:

Dear Murderer, 5 x 1 hr, Screentime New Zealand for TV One, $3,945,000
Cul De Sac 2, 6 x hr, Greenstone TV for TV2, $1,139,997

Dear Murderer is a five-part drama series based on the life and career of the late high profile criminal lawyer Mike Bungay. Made for TV One, Dear Murderer draws on the biography of the same title.

The producers, Screentime New Zealand, say " the series will have you roaring with laughter one minute and weeping the next. It will not just be a 'crime and trial' piece but, rather, an intimate, personal encounter with one of New Zealand's great and enduring characters."

For a younger and family audience, a second series of Cul De Sac will be produced by Greenstone TV. The first series of this quality, dystopian drama has found an appreciative prime time audience on TV2.  In series 2 Rose and her siblings continue their journey to find sanctuary from the dark forces that have invaded their world.

"Audiences will delight in the Dear Murderer story about one of the most flamboyant and outrageous men in New Zealand legal history. Stories such as this provide a creative new way to view historical events in New Zealand. We are also thrilled to have a successful science-fiction series for a family audience, adding to the diversity of funded drama content," says Jane Wrightson, Chief Executive of NZ On Air.

Congratulations to all the WIFT members who will be able to work on these exciting projects and we look forward to seeing the results on screen in the near future.
