WOWFF 2017 has officially launched

Posted Monday 21 Nov 2016

THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE. WOWFF 2017 has officially launched, with submissions open!

Celebrating its 22nd year, WOW Film Festival, Australia's longest running female film festival, has announced EVENT CINEMAS as its official venue partner alongside COMMUNE in Waterloo, promising to be a multisite and multidisciplinary festival for women working in screen and content creation.

The name of the 2017 edition is Not Here to Make Friends, examining the "villainess' trope in reality tv and how this is changing coverage of female characters in screen content. WOWFF 2017 promises to be an exciting and challenging four days of films and panels by industry leaders...with a very "Unreal" special international keynote speaker.

Films must pass the "three tick test" meaning that of the four following roles - writer, producer, director and protagonist, three must be filled by female creatives.
