The late deadline of October 1st 2016 is looming for the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival and Screenplay Competition (#VIWIFF2017).
Now in its 12th year, the annual VIWIFF showcases an impressive line-up of short, and feature films (narrative, documentary, experimental and animation) by established and emerging women filmmakers from around the world.
This five day celebration is organized by Women in Film and Television Vancouver, a not-for-profit society founded in 1989 to advocate for, celebrate and promote women working in screen-based media.
The festival accepts films with women in at least three of these key creative roles: Writer, Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Composer, Lead Performer. Films completed after March 2014 are eligible.
As well as featuring films by women from around the world, the festival offers moderated question and answer sessions and panel discussions related to the films, artist talks, networking events, workshops, an awards ceremony, gala and industry events and an international screenplay competition.
In addition to offering independent filmmakers a professional screening opportunity, the festival pays artist fees and all films are entered to win cash awards.
Film submissions are now open. Read the rules and regulations here.
The Festival also conducts an International Screenplay Competition. For more information on the competition, click here.
Showcasing films created by women from around the world, the five-day festival opens on International Women's Day, March 8, 2017. For film and screenplay submission information please visit the festival page.
They can offer a 10% discount to WIFTembers. Please contact the organisers for the code if they would like to submit.
Good Luck!
